Structure Guidelines[]

I'm starting this thread to discuss general guidelines for the Wiki's structure. The earlier we make a structural framework, the easier it will be creating new articles in the future without the hassle of restructuring many articles later on. I'm gonna throw in a few suggestions here over the next few hours/days. ∞ Sunspots {Talk|Contribs} 16:53, November 16, 2009 (UTC)

Quest structure[]

I have put in a few quests using a structure that feels pretty neat, it looks something like this:

Article name

The articles are named exactly the same way as they are in the game, if there are multiple quests with the same name, the faction names are added to the quest titles (if one is neutral, no faction name is needed), if there are multiple quests with the same name for one faction, the level of the quest can be added.

Questbox template and categories

The quest template is used in order to add basic navigation and automatically adding the appropriate categories, the most basic quest article contains only the questbox with the quest's basic information. See Template:Questbox (not fully documented yet, I'll have to work on that) for usage

Section structure
  • Intro - this is the text you get when you pick up the quest
  • Task - this is the task which needs to be done in order to complete the quest
  • Progression - this is the text you get before you are about to complete the quest, most often from the turn-in NPC/Object
  • Completion - this is the text you get when you complete the quest, the same dialogue that you get the reward from.
  • Rewards - these are the rewards gained from the quest, the rewards are divided into different types
    • Items
    • Reputation
    • Money
    • etc.

NPC structure[]

I have laid out the NPC structure similarly to the quest structure but I have so far only worked on the npcbox template.

Npcbox template and categories

The Npcbox is used to put in some basic information about the NPC, it does also automatically add the necessary categories automatically (not fully developed yet). Sunspots {Talk | Contribs} 14:52, December 1, 2009 (UTC)

Monster Structure[]

By request of Jaserak in his Forum:Requesting help in creating new info box, I tried to create a template for a monster box. That didn't go very far, but the basic template I made is Template:MonsterInfo.

I think it's usable for the time being, though we'll probably need a proper template.

The NPCbox was initially created for all types of NPCs (the difference between a mob and another NPC isn't that big, they're essentially the same thing), I don't have time to look into it not though, you'll figure something out. Sunspots {Talk | Contribs} 01:16, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

Well, the common mobs are not part of a faction so that would make it look weird. Anyway, the new Template:Monsterbox is there, I'm not sure if it needs anything else. You need to delete the Monster page (I accidentally clicked save when testing), as well as Template:MonsterInfo.
